Discovery Point

Discovery Point, one of Scotland’s most exciting and innovative visitor centres, is situated at Discovery Quay Dundee on the shores of the River Tay.

It has been named as the best family tourist attraction in Scotland in the latest edition of the Good Britain Guide.
The centre, which tells the story of Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic adventures aboard the RRS Discovery, was singled out for praise because of its imagination and appeal to people of all ages.

The visitors centre at Discovery Point has been extensively refurbished over the past four years and it has now firmly established itself as one of the best tourist attractions in the whole of the UK

Royal Resaerch Ship Discovery

Royal Research Ship Discovery was one of the last wooden three-masted ships to be built in Britain and the first to be constructed specifically for scientific research. Built in Dundee and launched in 1901 it was the beginning of an adventure that would take her deep into the unknown waters of Antarctica and secure her place in the Heroic age of polar exploration.

Explore first hand, the Royal Research Ship Discovery that Captain Scott and his men lived and survived on for two long cold winters.  See the wardroom where he planned his epic Antarctic journey, and feel what life was like for the crew who survived two long winters locked in the ice.

The Polarama Room, opened by the explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes in 1999, is a 'hands-on' interactive gallery that explores the geography of Antarctica
